The supplies you need to create Rainbow Bath Bombs
First of all, get all the supplies you need together. This means that as you follow the method to create the Rainbow Bath Bombs you can ensure that no part will be delayed. It makes it easier to follow the method. Here is everything that you need to create the Rainbow Bath Bombs:
- ½ cup of baking soda
- ¼ cup of Epsom salts
- ¼ cup of citric acid
- ¼ cup of cornstarch
- 1 ½ tbsp of sweet almond oil
- 1 tsp of water
- ¼ tsp each of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple mica powder
- Bath bomb molds
Other things you might need include a whisk and a large bowl that you don’t mind using with these ingredients.
How to make Rainbow Bath Bombs
These supplies will make 4 large Rainbow Bath Bombs.
First of all, grab all of your supplies and make sure everything is measured out before you start. Get yourself a large bowl and add the baking soda, Epsom salts, citric acid, and cornstarch. Using a whisk combine all of these ingredients together until they are fully combined.
Next up add the sweet almond oil and water to a small jar with a lid and shake well to ensure that they are both combined as best they can be.
Very slowly add the liquid mixture to the dry mixture. Make sure you are whisking the entire time. This is so you do not activate the fizz. Ensure that you stir these ingredients well.
Once you have completed that step divides the mixture evenly between 6 small bowls.
Add one color of mica powder to each bowl, and stir well until the color is solid.
Begin layering the colors into the bath bomb molds. Red, yellow, then orange in one half; green, blue, then purple in the other half. Make sure to overfill the mold with the third color in each half.
Press the two halves together, and then lightly twist.
Allow bath bombs to set in the molds for 4-6 hours, then you may remove them to finish setting.
Store the Rainbow Bath Bombs in an airtight container or bag.

Craft Notes and tips
While the process to make Rainbow Bath Bombs is simple enough, I appreciate that any helpful notes and tips would be beneficial. So here are some of the craft notes and tips that could help:
- Make sure you have all of your supplies to hand, before starting this process. As some parts of the method require you to keep monitoring and stirring your mixture, it makes things much easier to ensure that you get it right.
- If children are helping then make sure they are supervised at all times. The last thing you want is them putting their fingers in their mouths if they have touched any of the ingredients you are using.
- If you are struggling to find some of these supplies in your local shop then searching online is a great place to start. You will likely find all of these ingredients on platforms like Amazon.
Variations you could try
Like with any craft or thing that you create there will always be variations that you can try. After all, you can really make these your own and more personal if they are being made for gifts. So here are some of the variations you could try when making Rainbow Bath Bombs:
- If you don’t like the idea of a rainbow theme then stick with a couple of colors. You could alternate two colors for a lovely striped effect, or even keep the bath bombs one solid color and focus on other aspects.
- You could add some glitter to the bath bombs but bear in mind that this will then transfer onto you and the bath. The best advice would be to not go overboard with it.
- If you want a different scent then you could use essential oils instead. You could make a purple-themed bath bomb and use a lavender scent, for example. Or citrus colors and use a lemon-scented oil instead.
- Buy different shaped molds if you are looking to create something a bit different.
