Easy ways you can have a healthy lifestyle as a busy mum, and incorporate a healthier diet and lifestyle for your family.

When it comes to the health of your family, you always want to do the best you can. But it can be met with some strange looks and refusal from some of them, especially your children.

You only wish they would understand the importance of a healthy diet before it’s too late, but sadly this can fall on deaf ears. However, as a parent, it can become one of the priorities.

So I thought I would share with you some of the ways you can incorporate a healthier diet and lifestyle for your family, without causing too much backlash. As a busy mum, this will help you with healthy eating and a generally better lifestyle.

Moving more

While healthy eating is important, you also need to combine it with fitness. There are some major benefits to moving more.

On a personal level, it can help to increase your fitness. Moving more, in general, can aid weight loss as well as help with general health. There are many ways you can actively move more. Just getting up from the couch is one way to start.

It’s all a case of turning something into a habit. Something that you just normally do. You could, for example, step up the pace of any walking you would do normally. This will naturally make you move more and burn off more energy.

Another way is to choose to take the stairs instead of any lifts or alternative methods. The last thing you could do is make it fun by switching the music up loud and dancing around your kitchen. However, which way you decide to do it, there are some major benefits for doing it.

It is recommended to begin with a ten thousand step target per day. Once you easily achieve, this you can look to increase it. There are many devices these days that can track your steps. They are well worth the investment.

You could make moving more part of a family challenge, and use it as a chance to spend some more time together. Which can only be a good thing?

Encouraging them to drink more water

Drinking more water will always have amazing health benefits for your family. Firstly, it’s a natural detox. So it flushes your body of bad toxins. It can also increase energy levels and reduce fatigue.

This can help with your healthy active lifestyle in other areas as it will encourage you to move more and eat better. You will also see an improvement in your skin tone as water is a natural remedy for reducing spots and clearing your skin. This can be great for adults and teenagers alike.

Try infusing your water with fresh fruit if you’re not a fan of plain water.

It will also encourage your children to develop the habit of drinking more which will serve them well in the future. For adults that are looking to reduce their weight, increasing their water intake can be a great aid to this.

Alongside all of that, it can even help you sleep better. Overall, drinking more water can help you throughout your whole healthy process.

Getting outside

Getting outside in the great outdoors and exposing your body to some fresh air is great for your lifestyle. Not only does it encourage you to move more but fresh air can also boost your immune system. Leaving you less exposed to that pesky cold and snuffly nose.

The fresh oxygen energizes your body making you feel much better inside. If you can get outside and expose your body to natural Vitamin D, then you’re on to a good thing.

Clean eating

Thinking about what you put into your body is so important. If you can be sure of the source of the ingredients, then you know where they have come from. It’s a very simple concept.

Instead of reducing what you eat or increasing something you are just mindful of the food you put into your body. It’s a great aid to weight loss.

Rather than eating something bought from a store, you are mindful of its origins. So you make sure that the food and ingredients that you eat are from their source and not modified in any way.

Changing your diet completely

You may want to consider a different diet completely. Perhaps you could explore vegetarianism, pescatarian, gluten-free, or just a plant-based diet. These all have their added benefits.

  • Vegetarianism – You may want to consider becoming a vegetarian where you don’t eat any fish or meat. However, you do include dairy and other products within your diet.
  • Pescatarian – This is very similar to becoming a vegetarian however you still eat fish. Fish can be a great source of omega-3 and protein.
  • Gluten-free – You may want to go down the gluten-free route. This is a diet that excludes the protein gluten.
  • Plant-based diet – You may want to look into becoming a vegan which is a plant-based diet. This is a diet based on foods sourced from plants and plant-based ingredients only. It is becoming much easier to stick to these guidelines.

Encourage Extracurricular activities

Encouraging the opportunity to get outside and move more has never been easier. You can do this by encouraging extracurricular activities.

This could be a team or individual sport. Forestry exploring or just enjoying a social setting outside. Encouraging your kids and the whole family to get involved in different activities is a great way to promote a healthy lifestyle.

Hide the good stuff in their well-loved meals

Finally, another way to encourage a healthy lifestyle and improve diet is to hide the good stuff in well-loved meals. This is utilizing things like hidden vegetable pasta sauces or blitzing other stuff to include in a meal.

A great way is a hidden vegetable tomato sauce. This is where you can cook and roast a whole host of vegetables like tomato, zucchini, mushrooms, and carrots.

I hope this guide helps you to encourage a healthier lifestyle for you and the whole family. There are so many benefits that you would be silly not to give some of them a try.
