How to Make Air Fryer Crab Rangoons
In a large bowl, mix the crab, cream cheese, green onions, salt, and pepper with a fork until thoroughly mixed. You will want all of the ingredients to have combined.
Grab a wonton wrapper and lay it on a clean surface. You could line a chopping board with parchment paper if you wish. Scoop about 1-1½ tbsp of the crab mixture onto a wonton wrapper.
Wet the edges with a bit of water and pinch two of the corners into the middle.
Pinch the remaining two corners together and ensure the edges are sealed. This will avoid any filling leaking out when cooking.
Place 5-6 rangoons into your air fryer and spray with cooking spray. If you can fit more in, then go right ahead. This would depend on the type of air fryer you have.
Cook at 380 degrees F for about 5-7 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Just check them at 5 minutes to see how they are getting on.
Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the remaining rangoons.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy!
Tips & Tricks:
- Leave your cream cheese at room temperature for at least 30 minutes to soften. This will help you to combine the cream cheese with the crab.
- You can use your fingers or a basting brush to wet the edges of the wonton wrappers. Doing this helps them to stick together so that the filing is sealed, avoiding any leakages when using the air fryer.
- Cooking times can vary depending on your air fryer, so it is a good idea to check at 5 minutes to see how they are coming along.
Variations:
- If you can, use fresh crab meat instead. It will taste incredible and really fresh and will work just as well. You could get hold of some from your local fishmonger if you can’t find any in the store.
- Try flavored cream cheese. You can get sweet chili or garlic versions of cream cheese, to name a few. This will add a different flavor to the crab rangoons.
- If you want to get creative, why not try this with other fish? Smoked salmon, cod, or salmon fillet cut into chunks, or even tinned tuna would work well.
