Ingredients

  • Hat Template
  • Toilet paper size cardboard rolls
  • Cardstock yellow and other colors of choice
  • Black marker
  • Googly eyes small
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick

Instructions

  • Begin with a toilet paper size cardboard roll. If your roll isn’t already a brown color, then you will need to add a step to paint it.
  • Print the hat template and cut out the pieces. Trace the main hat shape on the color of your choice and cut out. Trace and cut the rectangular strip band from another color of cardstock.
  • Glue the band above the brim of the hat.
  • Now, cut 6 small strips from the yellow cardstock. You will also need a cut a small yellow triangle.
  • Glue the strips to both sides of the hat, 3 on either side.
  • At this point, cut a few notches from the hat, to give it the appearance of being torn and tattered.
  • Next, add googly eyes to the cardboard roll. Glue the nose in the center of the roll.
  • Use the black marker to draw a simple mouth for the scarecrow. You can also use the black marker to draw a couple crosshatch marks on the hat.
  • Finally, cut two small slits at the top of the roll, one on each side.
  • Insert the hat into the slits to complete your super cute cardboard roll scarecrow craft.
