Candied Pecans

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter melted
  • 1 pound pecan halves
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl add the egg white and water. Whisk together until combined and foamy.
  • Throw in the pecan halves and coat completely in the mixture. Set aside
  • In a separate bowl mix together the white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt until combined.
  • Pour on top of the coated pecans, and toss together until each pecan is thoroughly coated.
  • Pour onto the prepared baking sheet and spread the pecans evenly.
  • Bake in the oven for 40 minutes or until the pecans are crunchy and the coating lightens. Stir the pecans halfway through the baking time, to ensure they roast evenly.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to cool for at least 10 minutes.
  • Enjoy while still warm or allow to cool completely and store for later!
