- 3 cups milk
- 2 tbsp. Cocoa powder
- ¼ cup Milk chocolate chips
- 2 tbsp. Granulated sugar
- ½ tbsp. Molasses
- 1 ½ tsp. Ground ginger
- ¼ tsp. Nutmeg
- Whipped cream for topping
- Sprinkle Nutmeg for topping, optional
- Gingerbread cookies for topping, optional
In a medium saucepan, combine cocoa powder, chocolate chips, sugar, molasses, ginger, nutmeg, and milk.
Heat over medium-high heat, whisking occasionally, until chocolate is melted, and the mixture is steamy.
Pour into two mugs, and top with whipped cream, a gingerbread cookie, or a sprinkle of nutmeg.
- Don’t overheat the mixture, or try to boil it too quickly. It will cause the milk to curdle, and you will end up with a bitter flavor.
- You can heat the mixture in the microwave. Just use short bursts of power and mix every time to avoid burning.
