Alien Spaceship Cupcakes

What could be more out-of-this-world than cupcakes that look like alien spaceships? These delicious and creative treats are easy to make and sure to be a hit with kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

Cupcakes:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 large eggs or as required by box instructions
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil or as required
  • 1 cup water or as required

Decorations:

  • Mini M&M’s – about 8 per cupcake
  • Small edible decorator eyes – 1 or 2 per cupcake

Frosting:

  • Grey buttercream frosting – piped using a large round tip or snipped piping bag
  • Green buttercream frosting – piped using a Wilton 18 star tip

Instructions

  • Bake cupcakes per recipe and cool completely
  • Use the gray frosting to pipe a smooth flat circle on top of each cupcake
  • Place m&m’s around the outer edge of the cupcake as the spaceship lights
  • Use the green frosting to pipe a small swirl in the middle of each cupcake to form the alien
  • Place the decorator eyes on the alien
  • Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Storage Instructions

Store cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If making in advance, store undecorated cupcakes and frost on the day of serving for best results.
