While there isn’t a magic potion that hones in on belly fat and zaps it away, there are certain “superfoods” guaranteed to lower cravings, boost metabolism and ramp up energy levels, thus helping you lose weight while you eat.

These foods also help in reducing cholesterol and blood pressure levels, lower the risk of heart disease and prevent type-2 diabetes.

Here are a few examples of ‘superfoods’ which can help you lose weight and stay fit.

1. Green Tea

Green tea is rich in the antioxidant EGCG which burns calories all day long by restricting food absorption and boosting the body’s ability to burn fat. It also helps maintain body weight by keeping you hydrated and satiated for longer periods of time.

For best results, drink 2 cups daily, especially after heavy meals.

2. Blueberries

Rich in antioxidants, blueberries are powerful at keeping you fit and healthy. They contain fiber which improves digestion while keeping you full longer, antioxidants which neutralize free radicals, and manganese which helps metabolize fats, carbs, and proteins.

They also contain polyphenols that work at reducing belly fat as shown in a 2009 study by the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center. Even more good news, they don’t contain any fat, sodium, or cholesterol.

Try eating 1 cup daily, either as a healthy snack or included in your yogurt, smoothies or fruit salad.
